Texas A&M kicked off the 2026 season with eight straight wins, including two series sweeps. The Aggies relied on pitching to handle Penn in their most recent series, allowing just two runs over three contests. Texas A&m followed that up with an offensive explosion against Lamar in a 25-5 victory.
Now the Aggies will hope to keep that hot start going as they head to Globe Life Park in Arlington for the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series. The level of competition for A&M skyrockets dramatically as the Aggies will face
Virginia Tech, UCLA, and Arizona State this weekend.
Action in Arlington begins for the Aggies as they take on Virginia Tech on Friday night. The Hokies are 7-1 on the season, with the lone loss coming 16-1 to Rutgers in a series Virginia Tech would ultimately take. Saturday night sees the Aggies take on the #1 team in the nation, UCLA. The Bruins are 6-2 on the season, suffering their first loss of the year, dropping the series finale against UC San Diego, and, more recently, dropping a midweek contest against San Diego State. However, UCLA also boasts a home series sweep against #7 TCU. Finally, Texas A&M closes out the Amegy Bank College Baseball series against Arizona State. The Sun Devils are 8-1 in 2026, with that lone loss coming on the road against #13 Oklahoma 4-3.
The level of competition Texas A&M faces in Arlington represents a massive test for the hope that the Aggies can bounce back from the difficulties of 2025. Texas A&M has a real shot to build some momentum going into SEC play in two weeks, and the performance at Globe Life Park likely sets the tone for the rest of the season. It will be interesting to see how the Aggies fare at Globe Life Park.
