Worst case scenario has hit the Super Bowl champions after one possession of t he 2026 season.
Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold was sacked by former Seahawk Dre’Mont Jones to end Seattle’s opening drive. It was a coverage sack with Darnold pulling the ball down and looking to escape the pocket. Jones dropped him and Darnold came up limping.
While the Seahawks defense came out onto
the field and held the New England Patriots to a punt on their first possession, Darnold was seen heading into the injury tent. He had his hat on the sidelines and continued to walk gingerly. We’re unclear as to what the injury is, but it might be a right hip injury. Last season he had a left oblique issue in the lead-up to the NFC Divisional Round to the San Francisco 49ers, but he was still healthy enough to play.
Drew Lock came in for Seattle’s second series. We’ll soon find out if he’ll be in for the rest of the night. He’s listed as questionable to return.
A big development in Seattle’s season.
