Following an absolutely monstrous performance on Sunday, Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs has been nominated for one of this week’s FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Week Awards.
Gibbs was simply
a superstar in front of a home crowd this past Sunday afternoon against New York—219 rushing yards, 45 receiving yards, three touchdowns, and a partridge in a pear tree. One of those TDs? Just a measly game-winning 69-yarder in overtime.
Remember, there are now two winners each week, and aside from quarterbacks and running backs, wide receivers and tight ends are also now eligible. Other nominees include Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, Green Bay Packers running back Emanuel Wilson, Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and oddly enough, New York Giants quarterback Jameis Winston.
Voting is open until 3 p.m. EST at NFL.com/FedEx, on the NFL Mobile App, or X (formerly Twitter) at @NFL. The two players with the highest number of votes will be named the FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Week.
If Gibbs wins—like he did two weeks ago after tearing up the Commanders—$2,000 would be donated to Detroit’s local food bank Gleaners Food Bank of Southeast Michigan. So get to work!
