It’s another installment of Mile High Pollster! Who has impressed you most through Colorado’s 2-0 start? Also, let’s check in on T.J. Hughes career so far, ponder who will get the net tomorrow, and predict where the Avalanche power play finishes this season.
Got That Dawg In Him
We asked fans who they saw as being the most impressive Avalanche so far and the majority of fans have voted for Nathan MacKinnon with Marty Necas earning the second most votes, followed by Cale Makar and then MacKenzie Blackwood.
MacKinnon has
been excellent and even gave us one of the best fights in a long time on opening night!
Many fans also took the time to write in Artturi Lehkonen’s name in the comments. Lehkonen, who’s in a contract year, is making himself look irreplaceable right now, but he’s not doing anything we haven’t seen before. That level of consistency and production should give the Avalanche what they need to extend him.
T.J. Hughes Arrives
We have a rookie in the mix this year in T.J. Hughes, and so it’s good to keep a watchful eye on him in the early stages of his career. The last thing the Avalanche want is to thrust him into roles that erode his confidence, but so far, so good, in my opinion.
Hughes has gotten better from one game to the next on both ends of the ice, and if that continues, things are literally and figuratively looking up for the young man!
Most fans say he’s been good but not great so far. Let’s see if he can get his first career point in the upcoming back-to-back against Winnipeg or Calgary.
Where Is Scott Wedgewood?
As mentioned, the Avalanche have run into their first back-to-back scenario of the season just two weeks into the year, so we should see Scott Wedgewood either tomorrow or Thursday, right?
We asked fans which game they’d rather see Scott in net (if at all), and most say they want Wedgewood to take a crack at extinguishing the flames, leaving the divisional game against Winnipeg for MacKenzie Blackwood.
Power Up Power Play
Breaking news: the Colorado Avalanche are currently a top-five power-play team at 44%, but we know that percentage isn’t sustainable. Nonetheless, the Avalanche power play looks good. But how good? As fans see it, it will be good enough to stay in the top 10 this season. Some fans still believe they will regress to the lower half, or even the bottom five, at some point.
