Konrad Laimer and Dayot Upamecano scored for Bayern Munich, who couldn’t keep a clean sheet nor secure the win as Borussia Dortmund elbowed their way to a 2-2 draw. Bayern lost three players to injury in the process—Ismael Saibari, Serge Gnabry, and Michael Olise—which Laimer said threw the team off their game.
“It’s never nice when you start a game and one player goes down, then another, and then another,” Laimer said (as captured by X account @iMiaSanMia). “It certainly doesn’t help you get into
the rhythm of the game. I hope the injuries aren’t too serious for the boys. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that they’ll be back as quickly as possible and won’t be out for too long.
“I’ve said it many times before, and we’ve all said it: we need every single player. There are so many games, and we want to go all the way in every competition. To do that, you need every member of the squad, and ideally, we want everyone available. We’ll stick together and support each other, and hopefully we can win our next two games before the international break.”
Bayern have games against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League and Mainz in the Bundesliga next weekend, both away.
