The Pittsburgh Steelers have been very active this offseason, specifically when it comes to upgrading their group of wide receivers.
After having one of the league’s worst groups of pass-catchers over the last two seasons, the Steelers traded for Michael Pittman Jr and traded up to draft Germie Bernard out of Alabama to complement DK Metcalf. And while their corps has seen a respectable upgrade, Richard Sherman believes they could get even better.
Speaking on his self-title podcast, the former cornerback
suggested that the Steelers sign free agent wide receiver Stefon Diggs.
“I think a team with a young receiving corps [or] an inexperienced receiving corps could take a shot at him,” Sherman said. “Maybe the Cleveland Browns. Could the Pittsburgh Steelers use him? I think they could.”
Diggs was released by the New England Patriots after an 85-catch, 1,013 yard season that saw the Patriots return to the Super Bowl. When healthy, he has been one of the most consistently dominant receivers of the last decade, hauling. In each of the last seven seasons in which he has played in at least 15 games, Diggs has topped 1,000 yards in all of them. He was a First-Team All-Pro in 2020 and a Secod-Team All-Pro in 2022 with the Buffalo Bills.
