Is this the game where RB Leipzig finally lands a stunner against Bayern Munich?
Defender Benjamin Henrichs thinks that might be the case after his team has already suffered through 6-0 and 5-1 losses to Bayern Munich already this season.
“Perhaps we’re a bit better prepared for our opponents this time around. We were very dominant in the first half and saw what we were capable of. In the second half, Bayern’s quality became evident. The lesson is that when we create chances as well as we did in the first half, we need
to be more clinical in front of goal. Bayern have a lot of individual quality and can always bring on fresh legs – we have to be vigilant throughout the entire match. We’ve already had two games against Bayern this season that didn’t go as planned for us. We absolutely want to do better on Wednesday,” Henrichs told Tz’s Hanna Raif (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
For Henrichs and the rest of his defensive mates, the biggest challenges lies with stopping Bayern Munich’s vaunted attack — something that has rarely been done this season.
“You simply know what kind of quality you’re up against. Especially in games like these, it’s extremely important that we stick together as a team, support each other, and avoid 1v1 situations as much as possible. Everyone has to contribute defensively to give the opposing players as little freedom as they can. As a team, you simply have to be well-prepared and try to solve it together,” Henrichs said.
Can Die Roten Bullen pull together that kind of team effort defensively? It might seem like a stretch, but we will soon find out.
