Abraham Lucas’ new deal is fantastic news for the Seattle Seahawks. Homegrown talent, investment in the offensive line, indication his knee is functional, the whole works.
However, it leaves Seattle in the exact same rank it had been in one peculiar category:
Offensive salary spending.
Even after the extension, the Seahawks hold this year’s record for least amount of money spent on offense for 2025.
Let’s say exactly $15.3 million of the year-to-year average hits right now (it won’t). That would still put Seattle $5 million behind the next team, the New Orleans Saints.

These are the bottom-six in the NFL in offensive spending, from the above article. That second column from the far right is offensive line, where the Seahawks had been the cheapest roster by about six million to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The second column from the left is Running Back, where the Hawks spent less than all but four teams this year.
Unlike previous recent seasons, the low spending on the line is finally not due to a series of $4 million contracts given to bad players. The line was five guys on rookie contracts until Thursday. This time, the rookies actually look promising. This time, we’ve got one extension and a fifth-year option already on the books.
Meaning, in short, enjoy this little saving spree while it lasts. I expect the line to finally get paid for the first time in about a decade.
