The Seattle Seahawks continue their 2026 preseason with a nationally televised game against the Tennessee Titans, who have a new head coach in Robert Saleh and a significantly retooled roster. After a lively joint practice on Friday, the actual game is expected to involve starters for the Titans, but we don’t know if the Seahawks will do the same. Given Macdonald’s history, it’s probably not in the cards, which is fine.
In the regular season, we normally make five predictions for a Seahawks game.
I’m not interest in game predictions in preseason, so we’ll focus on what to watch for on Sunday night in Nashville.
Is Jadarian Price going to play?
The Seahawks’ first-round rookie was absent from the Dallas Cowboys game due to a minor injury that probably would not have stopped him from playing in a regular season game, but in preseason it’s better to err on the side of caution. Price returned to full, padded practice this week, so that should be an indicator he’s ready for his first NFL action.
But will Mike Macdonald play Price at all on Sunday, or save him for the short week finale versus the Kansas City Chiefs on Friday? Emanuel Wilson is still not practicing, so if Price doesn’t play then it’s another game for George Holani and Velus Jones Jr to get the bulk of the snaps.
I’d like to see Price get some reps without getting Jeremiyah Love’d into a multi-week injury.
How will the Drew Lock and Jalen Milroe rotation be handled this time?
Mike Macdonald opted to rotate Lock and Milroe every two possessions, which isn’t unusual for preseason but isn’t something we’ve seen any time recently with Seahawks quarterbacks. I’d like to see Milroe still get some time with the second unit, so there’s a part of me who wants to see him start the first half at the very least.
There’s not much to expand on. Lock is Lock and the curiosity is whether or not Milroe has made enough improvements to even make a case to be QB2 any time soon, let alone this season. Incidentally, I hope Milroe has more downfield opportunities to throw. The offensive line has to do its job, but it feels like Milroe has consistently been a “play it safe” QB in preseason, and I’d rather he make aggressive mistakes than rack up completions on easier, shorter throws against third-string competition.
Can Montorie Foster Jr seize his opportunity with Jake Bobo out?
The unfortunate Jake Bobo knee injury has changed the wide receiver picture a bit. Tory Horton remaining out means Seattle is thin at receiver even if the starters randomly played against the Titans.
Montorie Foster Jr has been one of the bright stories throughout camp and preseason, but we’ve been here many times before with the Seahawks and preseason receiver superstars. If we assume Cody White could bump up to WR5 and replace Bobo, a potential WR6 path for Foster has gotten a little clearer. He had a generally good game versus Dallas (although a procedure penalty and drop in the fourth quarter were not ideal), and he has a major chance to stake his claim for a roster spot.
I’ll be interested to see if Foster plays any special teams snaps after none last Saturday.
When and how much will Trevon Diggs play?
Diggs just signed with the Seahawks on Wednesday, practiced a little bit on Friday, and there was nothing done on Saturday. Despite the name familiarity, Diggs is on a veteran’s minimum contract and is fighting for a roster spot. There isn’t any inkling as far as whether or not Diggs will get any snaps on Sunday, and if so, how many reps and how early will he be in the game?
Last week, we saw Nehemiah Pritchett, Shemar Jean-Charles, and Noah Igbinoghene get all the cornerback snaps in the first half. SJC is on IR, so someone is going to have to be that third corner. Could it be Diggs off the jump? What about either of Michael Dansby or Andre Fuller?
Pass rush? Anyone?
The Seahawks struggled to generate pass rush from the second-team and below throughout the Cowboys loss. No sacks, few QB hits, and too many clean pockets.
Not that a fifth edge rusher is of paramount importance, but the Seahawks benefited greatly from minimal games missed from their top four guys (Derick Hall, DeMarcus Lawrence, Uchenna Nwosu, and Boye Mafe). If such a situation arises where that quartet—swapping out Mafe for Dante Fowler Jr, of course—has to miss extended time, then someone has to be that fourth edge guy. Is it Connor O’Toole? Jalan Gaines? Are they going to persist with Mike Morris at edge when he never actually plays there in the regular season?
I’d like for some semblance of hope that there’s playable depth deep in the roster.
