Welcome to your manic Monday, ‘Dawgs. After a heart stopping Saturday night in Auburn there’s no rest for the weary.
The Ole Miss Rebels are coming to town, and they appear to be bringing the College Game Day crew with them.
Georgia opened as a 6.5 point favorite over the Rebels, which strikes me as slightly generous. Sure Sanford
Stadium is worth 2.5 points for a 3:30 kickoff. And the boys in Vegas didn’t build all those marble palaces by being wrong. But the Rebels have been an objectively more potent and consistent football team in my opinion. A touchdown victory would be a welcome outcome in my book.
You’ll find no one who’s less of a fan of Hugh Freeze than me. But even I have to admit that his comments following his team’s second half collapse this weekend were pretty admirable, and pretty spot on. For a guy with a reputation for blaming a lot of folks who aren’t himself, Freeze managed to avoid calling out the officials or claiming that his team got the shaft. Good on him. And thus ended the one and only time I ever praised Hugh Freeze.
Elsewhere in Barner Land? Things weren’t so level-headed. Sure buddy. The SEC specifically had it in for Auburn because
“I am not one to accuse officials of intentionally cheating and I am not doing that now, but something weird is going on.”
He’s not saying it was aliens. But it was aliens. Aliens paid by Kirby Smart to work mind control on Greg Sankey. I love living in Auburn fans’ heads. There’s plenty of open space in there.
As for Georgia’s upcoming opponent, the Rebels eked out a 24-21 win over Washington State. Lane Kiffin wasn’t impressed, and frankly it wasn’t a particularly impressive effort. My concern is that Georgia gets the effort Ole Miss left on the table against Wazzu.
Go ‘Dawgs!!!
