Rutgers football has announced that their home game on October 3rd against Indiana, the defending national champions, will double as the teams homecoming game.
The Hoosiers have soared to the greatest heights in program history since the two squads last matched up in October of 2023. Since that time, Indiana has been to the college football playoffs twice, won a Big Ten Championship, and won a national championship, their first in school history.
The series between the Scarlet Knights and the Hoosiers
is tied at five wins apiece, with Rutgers taking the last three. Their last match up in 2023 was a dominant 31-14 win for the Knights. That win got Rutgers to 6 wins and clinched them bowl eligibility for the second time since joining the Big Ten. Much has changed since that game.
Homecoming has given the Knights some good luck over the years, as they are 55-35-1 in their 91 homecoming games. Rutgers will need whatever good fortune it can get to have a shot at knocking off what will likely be a top 5 team. If they can pull it off, it would be their first win over a top 25 team since 2009.
With the homecoming game announced, all eyes turn to the Blackout game, which has yet to receive a date.
