The Iowa Cubs lost to Indianapolis, 4-0.
Austin Gomber was dominating for six innings for the I-Cubs, allowing no runs and just two hits. He struck out nine and walked no one.
Caleb Kilian
entered a scoreless game in the seventh inning and gave up four runs to take the loss. Kilian’s final line was four runs on three hits over one inning. He walked one, hit one batter and struck out one.Iowa had just two hits, both singles. Third baseman Chase Strumpf was 1 for 2 and was hit by a pitch.

Knoxville Smokies
The Knoxville Smokies ate up the Montgomery Biscuits (Rays), 7-1
Grant Kipp started and allowed one run on three hits over 4.1 innings. Kipp walked three and struck out three.
Evan Taylor relieved Kipp in the fifth inning and got the win because Kipp didn’t go five. Taylor pitched 1.2 innings and only allowed one baserunner, a one-out single in the sixth. Taylor struck out three.
Third baseman BJ Murray Jr. hit his Southern League-leading 20th home run of the year with a man on in the seventh inning. Murray was 1 for 3 with two walks.
Catcher Casey Opitz hit a two-run home run in the top of the ninth to cap things off. It was his fourth home run on the year. Opitz went 2 for 4 and scored twice.
