Bayern Munich fans may rightly see Dayot Upamecano as one of football’s top center-backs. And the Frenchman is not shy about rating himself, either. He should know: whether he is playing for club or country, Upamecano is surrounded by excellence.
“I think I’m one of the best. But there are also many other great defenders, like William Saliba, Ibrahima Konaté,” Upamecano shared in comments captured by @iMiaSanMia. “I think I’m surrounded by the best, whether it’s with France or with Bayern.”
France
has got it going on with that men’s national team roster, don’t they? It is a testament to Upamecano’s quality that he is thriving in environments as competitive as Les Bleus as well as FC Bayern. At least Bayern, unlike the German men’s national team, won’t need to worry about going against him next summer…or for many more to come, having secured him to a vital contract extension to 2030.
