The Los Angeles Rams lost a tight game to the Denver Broncos on Sunday Night Football by a final score of 30-26, and Sean McVay didn’t have much to say after the loss, other than to reflect, “You sign up for all of it.” Meaning the good times, and the bad. The wins and the losses.
That’s sports. That’s life.
You can watch the post-game interview(s) below, but no one waxed poetic at the podium. McVay says his piece about signing up for exactly what he signed up for, and he gives little updates on any
injury or player. He credits the Broncos for finding a way, something the Rams didn’t do in Week 3.
Said McVay after the loss about embracing the hard parts of the game while still loving his team:
“It’s tough, you know what, but this is sports. You sign up for all of it, and…love our group…just came up short. Give the Broncos credit, they found a way to get it done. We’ll look at ourselves and figure out how we can improve.”
There’s a bit more to chew on if you watch the whole 6-minute video, but it was perhaps the shortest (or one of the shortest) post-game interviews McVay has given as a head coach. The Rams went from being up 16-0 at the half to losing.
What is there to say?
The good news for the Rams is they are 1-2 with 14 games left in the regular season. Their season is not over. The bad news is if the Rams continue to lose games, blow double digit leads (and or leads in general) and fail to defeat the best opponents in the NFL, there season will be over and quickly.
The Rams get a chance to right their ship next week to rise to a .500 record four weeks in, or they’ll go deeper down the rabbit hole.
