After a close loss, the good teams do two things – 1) learn from the mistakes which helped cause the loss, and 2) put it in their rearview. If the Huskers are able to do both, they will come out guns blazing,
drop a solid W on Michigan State and head back down the tunnel with a record of 3-1 and many fine possibilities in their 2025 future.
The 30-27 loss to Michigan wasn’t the unmitigated disaster some – including Michigan – tried to make it out to be. For more detail on that CLICK HERE and check the opening remarks in last night’s How To Watch article. In 3-point losses to ranked teams, there are positive things, too.
We are favored by 12 & 1/2 (FanDuel) and the over/unders are 48 & 1/2. It’s warm and windy, very similar to the conditions for Rutgers last season, so I might be inclined to recommend the unders here were I a betting man. I have not been one for awhile, but I assure you, I have vices enough to occupy my time.
That being said, let’s see what’s up.
- As almost always, let’s start with the
injury report. Sorry, availability report – no one gets injured in college football. Malcom Hartzog is still listed as questionable, but Coach Rhule stated earlier in the week it was unlikely he would play. The sense is we could be doing this dance for a few more weeks. - There are no other new or unexpected entries on the Nebraska side. On the Spartan report, former Husker Alante Brown is listed as out which we will call a good thing out of respect – he had an excellent outing against his former team in the 2023 loss..

- Some have been calling for Elijah Pritchett to get more playing time, but both the coaches and his PFF grades say no.
- It still feels very much summer here, but I do appreciate the fall vibes.
- What’s that? More of the Clydesdales, you say?
- I assure you our meteorologists were not fibbing about the wind today.
- Cincinnati is up 38-22 on #14 Iowa State and both that Cincy win and holding Brendan Sorsby to under 70 yards passing just looks better and better each week.
- And, hey, how about those Huskers ladies burying Penn State in their own place? You know it was a wipeout when Nittaninnies can only post pictures of last year’s banner in response. Bet that feels like a lot longer ago after last night, amirite?
- I was definitely feeling it in the game tweets. No guilt whatsoever, y’all top to bottom did Izzy dirty.
Alright – the boys are almost warmed up. Start finishing the one in your hand and ice up a cold one before kickoff.
