Ric Flair recently disclosed he’s been dealing with a new health issue that caused him to miss the Cauliflower Alley Club’s 60th annual reunion in Las Vegas.
“The Nature Boy” was booked to appear at the August 26th event in order to receive the Iron Mike Mazurki Award. However, he revealed that he has a blood clot in one of his legs which has limited his ability to travel long distances.
While he wasn’t able to attend in person, Flair did appear via a Zoom video call to accept the award. During the call,
he shared the news of the blood clot and explained he is also due to appear in Philadelphia soon, thus making the trip to Vegas not advisable.
Before his video address, Jerry “The King” Lawler and Jimmy Hart took to the stage in order to accept the award on Flair’s behalf.
“It’s kind of kind of an unusual situation for me to accept got the award for a guy who is so good at speaking in the microphones,” Lawler noted in his comments.
When Hart took the microphone, he recalled how Hulk Hogan always called Flair “the greatest of all time.”
“If there was a lie detector test there, put me on it, I would say that without a doubt — the best of all was Ric Flair,” Lawler added.
When Ric himself appeared on a screen, he said he was “honored” and “privileged” to receive the Iron Mike Mazurki Award, which Cauliflower Alley Club says on its website recognizes “extraordinary achievement, lasting impact, and a lifetime of contribution to the professional wrestling industry.”
We at Cageside Seats wish Ric Flair a full and speedy recovery. Please share your thoughts in the comments.
