All of the big contracts from the past two years might now be catching up to Bayern Munich when it comes to upcoming contract negotiations.
Bayern Munich and Konrad Laimer might be very far apart on expectations for a new deal per Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg:
Bayern and Konrad Laimer are very far apart in their salary expectations. Negotiations are currently on hold. Laimer already earns over €10m gross per year. His representatives are demanding ‘well over’ €15m to extend. Laimer is represented
by the same agency as Gnabry and Goretzka, so they’re aware of the kind of salaries Bayern are paying.
Right now, Laimer is making a total salary package of €9 million salary + €2.25 million bonus for a €11.25 million. As far as the mention of a figure of “well over €15 million” could mean a couple of different things. Is that a reference to a salary? Is it the total package?
A total package of €15 million could be palatable for the Bavarians, but a base salary of €15 million might cause the higher-ups to balk. A base that high could push the overall package into the €18 million to €20 million range, which — would be fair based on what Bayern Munich is paying Alphonso Davies — but might be too much for the Bavarians to work into their budget.
