FC Köln striker Ragnar Ache had the moment of the match with his goal for Die Geißböcke when he headed a goal from a corner to give his squad a temporary 1-0 lead. Bayern Munich, of course, would come
back to win 4-1, but Ache was proud of his team’s performance.
“We gave it our all, but unfortunately it wasn’t enough in the end. Of course, the belief was there. Bayern has a lot of individual quality. At times, we lost our grip on the game. The fans saw that we gave everything,” said Ache (as captured by FCBayern.com).
FC Köln gave Bayern Munich a tough fight, especially early, but the Bavarians were just too strong in the end.
Bayern Munich traveled to Cologne for a midweek DFB-Pokal tilt with FC Köln.
Heading into the match, the Bavarians were riding high, but the squad knew that FC Köln would not be an easy out in front of its home crowd. Ultimately, Bayern Munich pulled out a 4-1 victory doing exactly what they have done to every other opponent it has had of late — wear them down and pounce.
