We’re getting close to the start of the season, so this is as good a time as any to let everyone know that The Daily Norseman, along with the rest of the SB Nation family of NFL sites, will be partnering with the folks from FanDuel again this year. They’ve got a big promotion coming up on roster cutdown day, which is this coming Tuesday the 26th of August, so we’re getting things started with them now. We’ll be running a few stories over the next few days in order to get things going.
Our first question
is an easy one, and we’re taking a look at the over/under that has been set for our favorite team’s win total. As of today, the Minnesota Vikings currently have their total set at 9.5 wins.
Ordinarily, I wouldn’t put too much of my own commentary into these sorts of things, and I might not for the rest of them, but I have a feeling that most of you aren’t going to need a whole lot of convincing. As we know, the Vikings won 14 games last year behind a quarterback in Sam Darnold that very few of us. . .myself included. . .expected a whole lot from. They’ve turned the reins over to young J.J. McCarthy, and obviously the jury is still out on him.
While everyone was focused on that, however, the Vikings went out and addressed their two biggest weaknesses. They got stronger on the interior of the offensive line with the signings of Ryan Kelly and Will Fries and the drafting of Donovan Jackson. They also strengthened the front seven on defense with the signings of veterans Jon Allen and Javon Hargrave. The defense is still being run by mad scientist Brian Flores, while the offense is commanded by the reigning and defending NFL Coach of the Year in Kevin O’Connell.
You would have me believe that the Vikings are, somehow, five games worse now than they were last year? Sure, I’m biased, but I’m just not seeing it.
Do I think the Vikings are going 14-3 again this season? Probably not. But there’s still enough talent on this team for them to win double-digit games, and to me that makes the “over” on this one a no-brainer.
Let us know what you think, folks! Are the Vikings going to go “over” or “under” their projected win total in 2025?
