Former UConn baseball star Kyler Fedko became the 21st Husky to reach the MLB on Monday night, earning the call with the Minnesota Twins. Fedko, a 12th round pick in the 2021 MLB Draft, posted a .286/.372/.578 line with 15 homers and 11 steals in 58 games with Triple-A St.Paul this season before earning a spot on the big league roster.
Fedko was the centerpiece of the Huskies’ 2021 Big East Championship team, helping lead UConn to the NCAA tournament before being eliminated in the South Bend Regional.
Fedko hit .398 with 12 home runs and a .485 on base percentage that season. His .398 batting average was the highest by a Husky in 20 years. Through three seasons and 119 games in Storrs, Fedko hit .338 with 19 home runs and eight stolen bases. His career on-base percentage was .410.
After being drafted in 2021, Fedko flashed a combination of power and speed and overcame some sturggled before establishing himself as a legitimate MLB prospect. He hit .250 with a .345 OBP across A and High-A ball in 2022 with 10 homers and 13 steals, and followed it up. Injuries hampered his 2023 and 2024 seasons, as Fedko played just 154 total games in those two seasons, but the Gibsonia, Pennsylvania native broke out in 2025.
Across 130 games in Double-A and Triple-A, Fedko hit .258 and posted a .367 OBP while hitting 28 home runs and stealing 38 bags. That breakout cemented Fedko as a viable prospect heading into this season, where FanGraphs ranked him as the No. 17 prospect in the Twins’ minor league system.
Fedko made his MLB debut in left field for Minnesota hitting in the No. 6 spot against Mackenzie Gore and the Texas Rangers. He went 0-4 with two strikeouts in his first taste of MLB action. Fedko joins Ben Casparius, Anthony Kay, PJ Poulin and George Springer as former Huskies currently on MLB rosters.
