We’re into the semi final stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and with just four games to play (now 98 games have whizzed by!), we’re very close to finding out who the next world champion is.
France were challenged by Morocco for long periods, but eventually broke them down. If Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele can get behind the tight Spanish defence then they could feast, especially if Michael Olise can get into the game. Mbappe is chasing the Golden Boot, and already aiming for Lionel Messi’s most
goals scored title.
Spain have ridden their defence as the key factor, conceding just once the whole tournament. Even without a recognized focal point up top, they have ridden late goals to get to this stage, eliminating Portugal and Belgium in similar manner. Lamine Yamal just hasn’t gotten going but the return of Nico Williams will be a big boost.
Curiously, things are tied head-to-head, with both sides having won eight times each, and two draws.
