Woltemade figures not true (Sport Bild’s Christian Falk)
Just a couple of weeks back when the (mostly unfounded) rumors began to appear, some numbers were being bandied about. As it turns out, those were probably not accurate:
❌ It is NOT TRUE: Newcastle have set Nick Woltemade’s price tag at £69m [€79.3m] for Bayern Munich. It might be true that if the Magpies were prepared to sell the striker, they would like to recoup the money they handed over to VfB Stuttgart in the summer. However, they’ve not set a concrete price tag. Newcastle don’t want to put
the player up for sale at the moment. Not even Woltemade wants to make a move now. If he were to do so now, it would give off the impression that he hasn’t “made it” at Newcastle. He wants to prove that he’s better and is good enough for Newcastle.
The next step would then be to move to a Premier League club that is playing a little higher in the Premier League, or, perhaps, going back to the Bundesliga in the distant future. He does have Bayern Munich in his mind, but in the meantime, he wants to improve his performances in the north east of England and get more minutes. That’s ultimately because he wants to play in the World Cup with Germany. If he’s to achieve that goal, the 24-year-old has to play frequently at Newcastle. He would otherwise have to go and push for a transfer with the Newcastle bosses, which he’s yet to do! That’s why Newcastle don’t want to sell him.
It does feel too early for Newcastle United to give up on Woltemade and also too early for the Bavarians to make such a splurge on a striker. At Woltemade’s age and with his current profile, it seems too early to think about backing up Harry Kane for Woltemade.
United counting on big sales (Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano via ESPN)
Manchester United is going to try to generate some big revenue through player sales this summer:
Manchester United are counting on receiving a total income of €80 million once the loans of Rasmus Hojlund and Marcus Rashford to Napoli and Barcelona are made permanent.
Manchester United certainly has some bodies it can shed from that overstuffed roster. It would not be shocking to see six or seven players get sold.
Bayern not eyeing Osimhen (Sport Bild’s Christian Falk)
One other striker who Bayern Munich will not be pursuing this summer is Victor Osimhen:
❌ It is NOT TRUE: Bayern are considering signing Victor Osimhen. That’s already been confirmed by the club bosses. They know about these rumours, and it has something to do with the fact that Osimhen’s contract has a release clause included, which is available to be activated by several top clubs, including Bayern Munich. However, FC Bayern feel a little used here. Perhaps it’s the agents stirring the pot, but there is actually no interest from the reigning Bundesliga champions. Also, the last article I read claimed that Vincent Kompany had submitted a personal request to the Bayern bosses for the club to sign Osimhen as a successor to Harry Kane. But this is exactly the kind of situation Bayern Munich do not want to see come to pass! They want to extend Kane’s contract. They’re not interested in rumours suggesting they’ve already settled on a successor. They don’t need that at the moment. And they don’t need Victor Osimhen.
Bayern Munich seems to be a leverage club in all Osimhen rumors. It is really unclear on how serious the Bavarians would be in attempting to actually get Osimhen.
Ryerson getting big interest (Bild via ESPN)
Julian Ryerson might be Borussia Dortmund’s best player this season and his drawing the attention of clubs like FC Barcelona, Newcastle United, and Manchester United:
Borussia Dortmund plan to offload full back Julian Ryerson for €30 million amid interest from Barcelona, Newcastle United and Manchester United.
Barca could make move for Vušković (Sky Germany via ESPN)
Rumored Bayern Munich transfer target Luka Vušković is getting some looks from FC Barcelona:
Barcelona have held initial talks with the representatives of Luka Vuskovic, the 19-year-old center back who is currently on loan at Hamburg from Tottenham Hotspur.
Vušković is a player and one of the best defensive prospects in the game…and he loves playing in Germany. How much does he love it? Well, a bid from FC Barcelona might test his resolve.
Süle, Özcan to leave BVB (Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg)
Borussia Dortmund players Niklas Süle and Salih Özcan are set to leave the club this season:
🚨⚫️🟡 Official: Niklas #Süle and Salih #Özcan will leave Borussia Dortmund at the end of the current season.
The club and both players have reached a mutual agreement not to extend their expiring contracts. #BVB
Süle is an all-time “what if” guy for this author:
- What if he stayed healthy?
- What if he put more focus on his fitness?
- What if he took his career more seriously?
Napoli to exercise Højlund purchase option (Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano)
Rasmus Højlund has 13 goals and hour assists in 35 games across all competitions this season on loan from Manchester United — and that has been enough for the Serie A power to decide to exercise its purchase option on the 23-year-old:
🚨 Napoli will trigger €44m buy option clause for Rasmus Højlund, as always reported.
Director Manna confirms: “There are no doubts. Rasmus will stay here. We have an obligation to buy from #MUFC in case of UCL access — but he is in our plans regardless of this condition.”
