Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos got the ball to start the second half against the Kansas City Chiefs down 17-13 where they would promptly go three-and-out.
It was announced that safety Brandon Jones was ruled out of the game with a hamstring injury, so Denver’s defense would have Devon Key and Taylor Rapp starting. Things started out well in the second half, though, with the defense forcing a Chiefs punt.
Yet another three-and-out brought out the boo birds at Mile High with a poor start to the half by
the Broncos offense.
The boo birds are out because fans can feel the game slipping away.
And the slip began with the Chiefs next drive. Emmett Johnson just cannot be contained and it was frustrating to watch. Pat Surtain II made an outstanding pass breakup in the end zone, but on a third down on the next play a deflected pass was caught to keep the Chiefs drive alive and moved them into the red zone.
After a near interception by Riley Moss and a tackle for a loss by Devon Key, the Chiefs faced a third and 11 at the 16. Mahomes was flushed out and found a receiver at the sticks for the first and goal where they punched it in on the next play to blow the game wide open.
Chiefs 24, Broncos 13.
Down by two scores, the Broncos immediately went three-and-out for the third straight time to start the second half. They took about 20 seconds of the clock and were punting it right back to Mahomes and the Chiefs.
