Bayern Munich Sporting Director Christoph Freund joined the club in September 2023. His responsibilities include squad planning and transfers, the youth campus and integration into Bayern’s first team, as well as serving as the operational link between Vincent Kompany and the executive board.
Since his arrival Freund has notably paved the way for integrating two key youth players into Bayern’s first-team set up: Aleksandar Pavlović and Lennart Karl. The 49-year-old director has also successfully identified
talents such as Tom Bischof while playing an instrumental role in structuring key player contracts.
The Bayern executive board, who are responsible for Freund’s future, are reportedly satisfied with his work in the last three seasons and are expected to offer him a new deal (via @iMiaSanMia).
Christoph Freund’s contract also expires in 2027. But unlike Eberl and Dreesen, Freund’s future is not subject to the supervisory board, but rather to the executive board. Bayern bosses are very satisfied with Freund’s work and are planning with him in the long term. He’s also expected to get a new deal
Bayern’s recent remontada boils down to several on and off pitch factors. Harry Kane, Michael Olise, and Luis Díaz have been influential on the pitch, while Kompany has barely put a foot wrong managing Bayern’s superstar squad. In the same way, Freund has played an undeniable role in Bayern’s recent success.
