Bayern Munich’s announcement of contract extensions with Manuel Neuer and Sven Ulreich was the big news of Friday and came just hours after board member for sport Max Eberl told fans and the media a little white lie about how advanced things were.
That can all be forgiven, though, as Ulreich sounds incredibly pumped to be back at Säbener Straße for the 2026/27 campaign.
“I’m really delighted: I feel great, I’m still really keen on football – and I’ve simply grown to love FC Bayern. We’ve got a fantastic
squad with a brilliant coaching team, and it’s great fun every day, not least within our goalkeeping team. It’s wonderful to see how everything keeps developing, and I’m sure we’ll be in with a chance of achieving everything again next season,” Ulreich told FCBayern.com.
Some may scoff at Ulreich’s role as a third-string goalkeeper, but he has proven to be valuable on the field when called upon, while also being a great teammate and training partner to Manuel Neuer and Jonas Urbig. The camaraderie within the group has been long established with the three goalkeepers all supporting each other and pushing each to be even better.
Keeping Ulreich seemed like a certainty once Neuer decided he would return.
