The Cincinnati Bengals were able to snap their two-game losing streak on Sunday, beating the Miami Dolphins by a score of 31-24.
It was nice to get back in the win column, but it doesn’t feel like anyone was particularly happy with the Bengals’ performance.
Quarterback Joe Burrow didn’t seem especially pleased when speaking to the media, offering what could be taken as a warning to the Bengals about playing complete games. Burrow noted red-zone turnovers, personal-foul penalties, and field position
as areas where the Bengals fell short on Sunday.
“We got to be smarter. Two fumbles in the red zone. A couple personal fouls that hurt us, hurt our field position, gave them points on the board,” Burrow said.
Beating the Dolphins, who entered the matchup at 0-4, isn’t anything other than what is expected of a team with Super Bowl aspirations. The game never really felt like it was in danger, but Burrow clearly wanted to put the game away far sooner and in a cleaner fashion.
“We had some dumb mistakes, and we got to get those fixed if we want to be a great team,” Burrow continued.
There are a lot of good things to take away from the Bengals’ first five games of the season, but there are also plenty of things to be concerned about as the team heads into their bye week.
As the team looks to get healthy and prepare for the rest of their season, one thing is clear — the franchise quarterback is not happy with their 3-2 record, or how they got there.
