The New Orleans Saints had very little go right in Monday night’s 45-24 loss to the Atlanta Falcons, but Chris Olave continued to show why he should be considered one of the best wide receivers in the NFL.
Olave finished the night with eight receptions for 116 yards on 12 targets. with a long reception of 44 yards, leading the Saints in all three categories.
This marked Olave’s third 100-yard receiving game through the first four weeks of the season and his second consecutive game surpassing that mark.
He has now recorded at least eight receptions in all four games this season while reaching double-digit targets in each contest.
That consistency has made Olave one of the few dependable pieces of the Saints’ offense that has had a difficult start.
Through four games, Olave has 35 receptions for 491 yards (second league-wide) and one touchdown. He is averaging 14 yards per reception and has already established himself as the focal point of the Saints’ passing attack.
Against Atlanta, Olave’s 116 receiving yards accounted for more than one-third of New Orleans’ 320 total yards.
While the Saints ultimately could not keep pace with Atlanta, Olave’s performance was another reminder that New Orleans should feel comfortable with their investment in the wideout.
For a team searching for answers after falling to 1-3, Olave has been one of the few constants.
His production has not slowed despite the Saints’ struggles, and Monday night was the latest example.
