DePaul has a lot of history, but most of it is very up and down. They’ve had some terrible seasons and some seasons where they finished just above .500, but they have really never had a standout, amazing season since probably 2001 when they made the tournament last. That year, they won their conference at the time, Conference USA, and made their way to the tournament,
for only the 2nd time ever, but got beat by Minnesota in the 1st Round.
Nebraska and DePaul have actually met before today’s matchup with the first match being in 1977. They haven’t played each other since 1979 though. The Huskers are 3-0-1 against the Blue Devils. Yes that 1 is a tie, which doesn’t really happen anymore.
DePaul is now part of the Big East Conference alongside the Creighton Bluejays. In 2025, they finished 6th of 11 teams in the Big East with a record of 7-9. In the 2026 Preseason Poll, they are slated to finished one spot ahead of where they finished last season in 5th place. They only have one player on the Preseason All-Big East Team and she was also named the Co-Freshman of the Year in 2025.
Sophomore OH Kendall Timme had a great freshman campaign for the Blue Devils leading the team in several offensive categories. She had 301 kills and averaged 3.27 kills/set, which put her in 7th across the league. Timme was the first freshman of the year in program history as well.
The Blue Devils have lost some fire power on offense from their 2025 roster. They have returned a couple girls from last years team that put up some solid numbers though. Sophomore RS Isabela Tavares Salomon is in her 2nd year at DePaul and is originally from Brazil. Out of the returning girls, she finished 2nd in kills last season while only playing 36 of the 103 total sets they played.
Tavares Solomon has already seemingly nabbed the starting spot on the right side season playing all 14 sets so far with 52 kills, 2 behind leader Kendall Timme. She is averaging almost 4 kills/set and is hitting .297%.
Junior MB Jade Dudley-Epps is also another key piece to DePaul’s offense, but she is also the teams leader in blocks so far this season with 21 and averaging 1.50 blocks/set. She is tied for 3rd on the team in kills with 32 and is averaging 2.29 kills/set. Dudley-Epps played her freshman year at San Jose State before transferring to DePaul last season where she ranked 3rd in the Big East with 1.18 blocks/set
