In Week 1, the Las Vegas Raiders revealed their new plan to manage Maxx Crosby’s play time.
It has, for the most part, continued through the first six weeks of the season appears to be the way the team will manage their 29-year-old star pass-rusher moving forward.
In Week 1, against the Miami Dolphins, Crosby played 82.1 percent of the season. He has since played between 80 percent and 91.7 percent of the defensive snaps. His per game average is 86 percent of the snaps. He played 89 percent in Week 6,
his second highest total.
So, Crosby is still, of course, playing the vast majority of the snaps, but it is noticably less than in the past.
In the previous two seasons, Crosby played 100 percent of the snaps in 17 of the 27 games he played. He played 100 percent of the snaps in 10 of 17 games in 2023. But playing every snap of most games took its toll.
Crosby missed the first seven games of his career in past two seasons and had off-season surgeries. Of course, a failed physical nixed his trade to the Baltimore Ravens in March.
So, the Raiders became dedicated to giving Crosby some more in-game rest starting in 2026 and they appear to be sticking with that plan.
