Current WBC Light Middleweight champion, Sabastian Fundora, will defend his title against former WBA Super Welterweight champion, Keith Thurman, on Oct. 25, 2025 in Las Vegas, Nevada in a much-anticipated bout years in the making.
The two men kicked off their media duties yesterday (Weds. Aug. 3) with their first press conference, which concluded with a traditional staredown. That said, it was a bit
non-traditional to say the least because Thurman had to pull up a chair to stand on in order to meet the champion eye-to-eye. Indeed, Fundora usually towers over all of his opponents as he stands at 6’6” while Thurman comes in at 5’7,” so “The Towering Inferno” will have a distinct reach advantage come fight night.
Check out the before and after staredowns to see the huge difference.

Fundora will come in at 23-1-1 and is coming off a title defense over Tim Tszyu, his second win over him in two years. Big fights have eluded Fundora throughout the years, as the 27 year-old had proposed bouts against Terence Crawford and Errol Spence Jr. fall through.
As for Thurman, he is 31-1 in his career with his lone defeat coming at the hands of Manny Pacquiao. He returned after a three-year layoff to defeat Brock Jarvis via devastating third-round technical knockout (TKO) earlier this year (see it again here).
