Bayern Munich made a bold move this summer by promoting Arijon Ibrahimović to the first team as the squad’s backup left-winger for the season. However, the experiment failed quickly after a poor pre-season showing, which was enough for the club to decide that Ibrahimović simply wasn’t up to the task of being the team’s backup left-winger.
After Ibrahimović left the squad, no immediate replacement was brought in, leaving a gap in the team and increasing the pressure on Luis Díaz to perform. This left many
fans expecting the club to make a transfer in the winter window to fill that void. Unfortunately, it appears the club might not share that same sentiment.
Florian Plettenberg reports that Bayern Munich are already preparing for next summer and are currently looking for a new left-winger. As for the winter window, there are currently no plans to be active in the transfer market, as captured by @iMiaSanMia.
With Díaz’s massive performance against RB Leipzig over the weekend, it is clear that he isn’t going anywhere despite a slow start to the season. However, that doesn’t solve the problem that there is no backup if Díaz were to get injured. While there are versatile attackers who can fill in, there isn’t a perfect solution.
Should Bayern Munich make a transfer in the winter window, or is the club doing the right thing by waiting until next summer to make a move? Let us know in the comments!
