Colombian forward Ivonne Chacón will transfer to the Chicago Stars from Levante U.D, the Stars announced on Thursday. Chacón’s contract with Chicago runs through 2027, and she will join the team upon approval of her P-1 Visa and International Transfer Certificate.
Julián Capera reported the transfer fee to be around 500k Euros, which would be the highest transfer fee ever for a Colombian player, surpassing Mayra Ramirez’s transfer fee to Chelsea.
“Ivonne is a dynamic player with experience playing
in Colombia, Spain and with the Colombian national team,” said Chicago Stars general manager, Richard Feuz. “Ivonne’s experience, combined with her speed, strength and nose for goal, paired with the incredible talent we already have on the roster, will add another level to our game. We are incredibly excited to welcome Ivonne to the team and look forward to seeing her excel on the pitch.”
“This is a new challenge in my career, and I am ready to give my best for the Chicago Stars and their fans,” said Chacón.
Chacón most recently played for Levante and Valencia in Liga F. She scored 11 goals for Levante this past season over 30 matches played. For Valencia, she scored eight goals and one assist over 54 matches.
Chacón plays with the Colombia national team, and was part of her country’s 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup squad, where they progressed to the quarterfinals for the first time.
