The Cleveland Browns take the field this afternoon in Pittsburgh for what is arguably the most important game the franchise has played since the Wild Card Playoff game against the Houston Texans in January of 2024.
A win would keep the Browns in first place in the AFC North, run their division record to 3-0, and be the first season sweep of the Steelers since 1988.
It has also been 23 years, and a run of 22 consecutive games, since the Browns last won a regular-season game in Pittsburgh. Winning today
would get that annoying black-and-gold monkey off their backs and signal that the narrative is truly starting to change for the team.
A loss does not end the season, of course, but it will still cast some doubt over what the Browns have accomplished through the first seven weeks of the season. Lose, and those last-second wins are no longer about a team finding a way to win; they become “the Browns were lucky, and now they are showing their true colors.”
The Browns have done a good job of calming things down since the Week 1 meltdown against Jacksonville, and today presents an opportunity to continue to shovel dirt on the idea that “the Browns is the Browns.” Especially since it is against the team that originated that saying.
Keep it here at Dawgs By Nature throughout the day, as we will have every angle of the game covered. Now, let’s kick it off with the latest edition of the Sunday Dawg Chow.
