The Philadelphia Eagles officially announced the inactives list for their Week 8 game against the Washington Commanders.
The following Eagles players WILL NOT PLAY: DeVonta Smith, Dontayvion Wicks, Jihaad Campbell, Britain Covey, Jonathan Jones, and Jake Majors.
Smith, Wicks, Campbell, Covey, and Jones were all ruled out on the final injury report.
Smith, Wicks, and Covey being out means the Eagles have four active wide receivers: Darius Cooper, Makai Lemon, Hollywood Brown, and Elijah Moore.
Campbell’s
absence means Jeremiah Trotter Jr. will start at linebacker next to Zack Baun.
Jones’ absence likely means either Kelee Ringo or Mac McWilliams will be the top backup cornerback behind Quinyon Mitchell and Riq Woolen.
Majors is a healthy scratch with eight offensive linemen active ahead of him.
Rookie quarterback Cole Payton is notably active and not designated as the emergency third QB. He might see some playing time on special teams like he did earlier this season.
Elijah Mitchell and Mason Reiger are active after being temporarily elevated from the practice squad. Mitchell, Saquon Barkley (playing through back and hamstring injuries), and Jaydon Blue are the Eagles’ active running backs for this game. Reiger is making his NFL regular season debut as a depth edge rusher and special teams contributor.

Washington Commanders inactive list
The Commanders originally ruled four players questionable entering this game: starting defensive tackle Daron Payne, rotational defensive lineman Jer’Zhan Newton, fill-in starting receiver Treylon Burks, and No. 2 tight end John Bates.
Payne and Newton were downgraded to out prior to this game. Washington’s defensive line is looking thin since Javon Kinlaw was also ruled out. We’ll see if the Eagles’ offensive line can take advantage.
Burks is active and ready to contribute with the Commanders notably missing Terry McLaurin for the rest of the season.
Bates is also active.
QB Athan Kaliakmanis (emergency third quarterback)
CB Fabian Moreau
CB Isaac Yiadom
OG Tanoa Togiai
DT Daron Payne
DT Javon Kinlaw
