SmackDown airs tonight with a taped show (spoilers here) emanating from Rocket Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. This is the fifth episode of SmackDown during the nine week build to Money in the Bank, which takes place on October 10.
WWE’s newest star is about to have his chaotic debut match before Blake Monroe’s
It’s a night of debut matches tonight on SmackDown!
First up is Shinsuke Nakamura’s new partner from Japan, Kyoki. They are teaming up tonight under their new team name Bakusai to take on formerly electrocuted zombies, Kit Wilson and The Miz. This looks like a super easy win for Nakamura and Kyoki. Will
we find out what exactly the former Hiromu Takahashi means when he says he enjoys chaos and madness in WWE? Are Bakusai already about to become the number one contenders for MFT’s WWE tag team championship when they win this match?
The other debut match on tonight’s schedule is for “The Glamour” Blake Monroe, who is supposed to be fighting Giulia in a singles match. Despite what WWE is advertising, the smart money says this match won’t actually happen. Blake found a way out of wrestling Giulia a couple weeks ago by attacking her before the match, and she’ll probably find another way to avoid getting in the ring tonight. Is this gimmick of never wrestling since being called up 4+ months ago doing anything to get Monroe over with WWE fans, or is it a giant waste of everyone’s time?

The rest of the card
Sami Zayn keeps interfering in matches related to the WWE championship and attacking people with CM Punk’s belt. WWE indicates there will be consequences for Zayn’s actions tonight. Will those consequences come from GM Nick Aldis, or from the angry fists of stars like Punk, Kevin Owens, GUNTHER, and Finn Balor?
Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton aren’t allowed to touch each other before their match this weekend at Sunday Night’s Main Event, or else they can never challenge for the WWE championship ever again. The American Nightmare has something to talk about tonight, after Randy talked shit last week about Cody’s dead dog, trailer park trash mom, and trashy ass wife. Will Rhodes continue on with his own talking point last week about Randy’s dad being a first class screw up? Can Cody or Randy find the right terrible words to get the other to snap tonight, or will a third person be in the wrong place at the wrong time to take the beating?
Other stuff to keep an eye on
– Interim WWE Women’s Champion Chelsea Green rushed her return to the ring last week and was annihilated by Nia Jax in a tag team match. Is it just a matter of time until Jax wins the belt from her? How does Tiffany Stratton feel about losing so often since partnering up with Chelsea?
– United States Champion Baron Corbin says he doesn’t have to be entertaining, because he’s the champion. Will the very tall champ back up those words tonight by putting WWE fans to sleep with another mediocre match? Will Trick Williams stupefy Corbin tonight by doing something entertaining before Lil Yachty tries to survive five minutes in the ring with the champ this weekend at Sunday Night’s Main Event?
– Is WWE finally going to book a singles match straight out of 2015 between Paige and Nikki Bella, after Nikki laid out Paige with the Rack Attack last week?
– Tatum Paxley won her debut match last week against low card henchwoman Michin. With Paxley, Charlotte Flair, and Alexa Bliss lined up for a 6-woman tag team match at Sunday Night’s Main Event against Jade Cargill and her Baddies, will the babyfaces get a tune up match tonight against three jabroni wrestlers to see how well Paxley plays with others?
– Damian Priest is ready to move on from tagging with R-Truth, but Truth somehow interpreted that as a sign to book them in one more tag match together in Mexico City against AAA World Tag Team Champions War Raiders. Will there be a training montage tonight for Priest and Truth tonight as they prepare for one last ride together?
– Will Ricky Saints make sure to find AAA World Cruiserweight Championship Rey Fenix backstage tonight and mock him for losing against his lucha brother Penta on Raw?
– Jacy Jayne and Fatal Influence hold the women’s United States championship as well as the WWE women’s tag team championship. Is there enough TV time on two hour SmackDown for someone new to challenge them for the gold, or will Fatal Influence’s next move be revealed in an online exclusive after SmackDown goes off the air?
– Johnny Gargano has been laying around backstage being useless for months. He also happens to be from Cleveland. Will someone on the WWE roster give Johnny a good reason to finally stand up tonight?
– Danhausen’s new name for GUNTHER is “Gooner.” Will The Ring General be cursed if he rejects Danhausen’s next attempt to shake his hand?
