While making the rounds on his post-firing tour, former Astros GM Dana Brown has only good things to say about the team’s current manager Joe Espada on the Foul Territory podcast:
The most important aspect of this was that Brown stated Espada was both liked and respected by
the players.
Whether that proves to be enough for Espada to hang on to his job after the season is yet to be determined, but it does offer some insight as to perhaps why team owner Jim Crane decided to keep Espada on while letting Brown go before the season ended.
While fans can be frustrated by the team’s inconsistency, injuries and roster construction (as well as the fact there are too many players on the roster who perhaps shouldn’t be) are more to blame for that than the manager.
