The scramble is on for the Dallas Cowboys
Five games into the season, it has become obvious that something has to change. You can make this declaration about any part of the team to be honest, but defense is sort of the spot of major concern.
It was reported on Monday that the Cowboys have made a move there, so to speak. Mike Pettine is joining the Cowboys defensive staff, according to multiple reports.
It should be noted that Pettine, and Parker for that matter, was on the Packers staff in 2018 under Mike McCarthy. We all know that McCarthy was dismissed before that season ended and that in 2020 he joined the Cowboys.
Including that Parker tried to originally hire Pettine when joining the Cowboys himself sounds like some positive spin, but we obviously don’t know anything beyond this report. Whatever the case, Pettine is on board.
Can he singlehandedly fix or at least help fix what is going on? That remains to be seen. At the very least he has experience that Christian Parker doesn’t in terms of running an NFL defense.
The Cowboys can clearly use all of the help that they can get.
