Nick Bosa could miss Week 5 matchup versus Seahawks

What is the story about?

In Week 2 the Seattle Seahawks handily defeated the Arizona Cardinals to keep pace with the San Francisco 49ers atop the division.

The Niners, of course, opened the season by defeating the offseason champion Los Angeles Rams, giving San Francisco fans hopes as a schedule that is relatively soft outside of the quickly-approaching divisional matchup against Seattle in Week 5.

However, according to a report from NFL insider Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Niners may be without a key member of their defense

for the next few weeks, including the Week 5 matchup against the Seahawks, after Nick Bosa suffered a calf injury during practice Thursday.

Bosa is, obviously, among the most experienced and decorated members of a Niners defensive front that has been beset by injuries so far this year. San Francisco currently has six members of the defensive front seven on injured reserve, including five defensive linemen in C.J. West, Sam Okuayinonu, Mikail Kamara, Andrew Famer II and Alfred Collins. If Bosa does land on injured reserve ahead of the 49ers game against the Cardinals on Sunday, it would keep him out through Week 7, with San Francisco having a bye in Week 8.
