Before Bayern Munich hired Vincent Kompany, it was rumored to have spoken to several other candidates including Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner, an Austrian who was head coach for both VfL Wolfsburg
and Eintracht Frankfurt in the past.
Glasner is now the manager at Crystal Palace and earlier this week, a story broke indicating that Glasner has considered Bayern Munich to be his dream job. The Austrian threw some cold water on that notion.
“I don’t really follow the media a lot. I’ve stopped following the media too much, regardless of win or defeat, because I’ve noticed that a lot of nonsense is being written. Someone claimed I actually want to be Bayern Munich coach. It amuses me when other people know what I want without having discussed it with me,” Glasner told oe24.at (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
It would silly for Glasner to comment much on the rumor and he handled it as you expect. He is a very good coach and is doing nice work at Crystal Palace, which sits in 6th place of the Premier League table.
As for a dream job? That is a topic for another day with Glasner.
Bayern Munich might be off, but the news cycle surrounding the club is red-hot.
There are some big items to discuss, so let’s not waste any time. This is what we have on tap for this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works Show:
- Did Harry Kane throw some cold water on the thoughts of a contract extension with Bayern Munich? As it turns out, the Bavarians might not want to pay him anyway.
- Is Max Eberl in line for a promotion with Bayern Munich? Would it be too much for him to take on.
- Hot or Not? Harkening back to some nonsense from the beginning of the internet, let’s determine an early prediction on which Bayern Munich players will be back for 2026/27.
