Over the summer, Kentucky Basketball seemed attached to nearly every European player looking to make the jump to college basketball. One of those players, Marcio Santos, decided he wanted to play for Will Wade down in Baton Rouge.
However, that pairing was short-lived, as Santos has decided to head back to Europe to continue his pro career.
Will Wade alluded to the fact that it was more to do with the NCAA not officially clearing Santos, saying, “You’d have to ask the NCAA on that.” Though no official word
ever came on his eligibility. That seems to be a trend, as Arkansas watched another former Kentucky Basketball target, Miikka Muurinen, gain his full clearance within the last week.
Santos was one of at least 11 players who Will Wade is waiting on to get cleared, with LSU having only four official players on the roster as of right now. That will be something to follow along as we get close to exhibition season.
Whatever the reason may be, Santos, who is 23, is heading back to Spain to continue his pro career. He has previously played in Germany’s Bundesliga and the Israeli Pro League.
