According to Bild (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), the meeting between Jürgen Klopp and the DFB last four hours. DFB officials felt as if it was important to meet with Klopp in-person because of the magnitude of the decision:
A meeting between DFB president Bernd Neuendorf, vice president Hans-Joachim Watzke, Jürgen Klopp and his agent Marc Kosicke took place on Friday in a New York hotel. The meeting lasted over 4 hours. The fundamental terms of a potential collaboration had already been roughly agreed
before the meeting, but the DFB bosses still wanted to fly to the US to meet Klopp in person and not make such an important decision from distance.
Klopp is now set to sign a contract as new Germany coach until 2030. But the deal isn’t finalized yet. Klopp’s contract with Red Bull still needs to be terminated in consultation with RB boss Oliver Mintzlaff. The latter is expected in New York in the coming days for negotiations.
How much power and influence Klopp will wield is one of the hot topics for fans and the media. Surely, this meeting was not just about convincing Klopp to take the job, but more about how he can enact change within an organization that desperately needs it.
