Liam Smith spends some time talking about his career, having an extended break, and his intention to work his way back into things before he touches on an upcoming fight between Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua. Here’s some of his thoughts on that matchup in particular.
“I’m gutted it’s done now rather than four, five years ago — yes, but it’s happening,” Smith said. “We’ve still got the two names, still got the two characters, we’ve still got the two personalities getting into the ring. From three years ago to six
years ago I always said Tyson Fury wins. Now, I think it’s a toss up. I think it’s a 50/50 fight.
“I mean this with the greatest respect to the both of them because I love the both of them, but the two of them are past their peaks. Two of them are maybe a little bit shopworn as well, don’t take the best of shots, each. So, I am excited to watch it to see who does come out victorious.
“I still think Fury might mess and fiddle his way around, he’s very unorthodox and athletic and I still think Fury might fiddle his way around. I don’t think it’ll be a great, great fight. Like, for the purist it’s not going to be a great fight to watch. I think there’s going to be a lot of wrestling and dirty tactics but I do Fury’s got that off to a T cause I think he knows how to win.”
