You can probably count on one hand the number of genuinely good afternoons out we’ve had watching Reading this season. But Saturday was definitely a new low.
It was so bad it was almost funny. The emotions in the away end started with impatience, moved through to frustration, then all-out anger and ended in open mockery.
I usually try and sort the reaction of the fans into two or three distinct sections for this, but the Reading FC hashtag was more of a melting pot than it ever has been on Saturday
evening, so I’ve tried my best…
Leam Richardson
I’m still 99% sure Richardson will be in charge come August, but he is currently showing very little evidence that he deserves that privilege.
There’s not really a huge amount here I can or even want to say, you just have to read the tweets below. Essentially, it’s a long, long way back for Leam when it comes to the fans now…
The football
I mean, it’s a compliment even calling it football really, isn’t it?
It’s just absolutely awful to watch, it was comical at times against Doncaster Rovers. Countless misplaced passes, even more dodgy first touches, and yet even more aimless hoofs up the pitch.
I’m all well and good with us not getting playoffs, but there needs to be direction, and we need to have at least given it a go. The football we’ve played recently has been nothing short of pathetic, and the fans clearly agree with me…
Conclusion
I could go on and on and on showing tweets about Richardson and his style of football. I don’t think I’ve ever seen the fanbase so unanimous in its opinion on someone in the dugout, and that’s saying something when you think about some of the managers we have had in recent times.
Honestly, I just want this season to end. It’s been a mess from start to finish. For us all to be feeling like this at this stage of our first post-takeover season where we’ve pushed (if you even call it that) for a top-six spot is some kind of sick achievement in itself.
