RB Leipzig Ole Werner is about to go through a baptism by fire in facing Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga opener, but he is eager to see how his team will match up with the reigning champions.
“I am very much looking forward to the game. It’s always special to play away in Munich and to have the opportunity to write a big story. I have already had the pleasure of experiencing that, as have many of the players at RB Leipzig. We know that we are not the favourites going into the game, but we will do
our best to get the most out of this game. We want to go for the win, but in the right way. Regardless of all this, it’s just going to be cool because it’s the opening game of the Bundesliga and I think the number of countries watching will be in triple digits,” said Werner (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Werner knows that his team’s ability to be defend will be the key to any chance his squad has to win.
“It is always about defending well and defending in an active way in the right moments. We have to win the ball back, be uncomfortable to play against, and be confident enough to play football. We will be under pressure in Munich, but we have to deal with this and then we will have a chance to take something from this game, which is our aim,” Werner said.
Bayern Munich will kick off its Bundesliga season against RB Leipzig in what should be a fun start to the league season.
The Bavarians are seeking to defend their status as reigning champions, while RB Leipzig is going to look to build a great base of talent into a cohesive team — something that has not always proven to be the easiest task in East Germany.
