It’s time to play the blame game. The Dallas Cowboys 2026 season has not gotten off to the start fans wanted. At 2-3, the season isn’t over, but it certainly is headed in the wrong direction.
There was plenty of optimism heading into the season. Jerry Jones had largely stayed out of the limelight and was willing to make deals. Brian Schottenheimer was being praised for his offensive performance in 2025 and his way of dealing with being the Cowboys head coach.
Everyone was hyped about the acquisition
of Christian Parker at defensive coordinator. And it was thought that the roster had gone through a definite upgrade.
Now we look at those things and other thoughts come to mind.
Did Jerry Jones just settle for Schottenheimer as head coach, so if you blame Schotty, you could blaming Jerry. He is also the general manager, so he’s responsible for the makeup of the roster. Or is Schottenheimer the one to blame, he is the head coach and all phases of the team are having their issues right now.
Or was Christian Parker overvalued, to the point that they are bringing in outside help mid-season. His defense has cost the Cowboys games. Maybe in the end you blame the players. After all, they are the ones missing tackles, falling down in coverage, making dumb penalties and just failing to execute.
Finally, there is the injury, schedule, miscellaneous category. It is hard to deny how much injury has hampered the ability of the team to fire on all cylinders.
So have at it BTB. Who/what do you blame the most? And vote in the confidence survey too.
