Veteran forward Jae’Sean Tate has been re-signed by the Houston Rockets, the team announced on Thursday. Tate, who is currently 30 years old, first signed with the Rockets in the 2020 summer as an undrafted free agent. There was no disclosure of financial details. But according to Varun Shankar of the Houston Chronicle, the deal is for a single season at the NBA’s veteran minimum pay and is partially guaranteed.In 2025–2026, Tate was mostly left out of the Houston rotation, averaging just 8.8 minutes
per game in 46 games.
Tate averaged 11.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per 36 minutes played in 46 games during 2025-2026 campaign. In 405 minutes of play, he made just 16 turnovers while shooting a career-high 51.4% from the field.
Tate’s seventh season with the team is almost here. Only 15 players, including current center Clint Capela, have spent at least seven seasons as Rocket players in the team’s history.
Tate played abroad in Belgium and Australia after his final year at Ohio State in 2017–18. In 2020–21, he made his NBA debut and became the first Rocket since Luis Scola in 2007–08 to be named to the All-Rookie First Team.
Tate, who is well-known for his defense, will give Houston’s 2026–2027 frontcourt depth protection behind forwards like Tari Eason and Jabari Smith Jr.
According to a person with knowledge of the arrangement, the Rockets also re-signed Isaiah Crawford on Wednesday to a four-year contract worth up to around $11.3 million.
Crawford has a team option in year four, but his deal is completely non-guaranteed. If the Rockets don’t ask for waivers on him by specific dates (the first day of the regular season for the following season, July 1 for the following three), his pay is guaranteed for each year.
Crawford, 24, played in just 14 NBA games last season while on a two-way contract with Houston. He averaged 10.9 points and 6.3 rebounds per 36 minutes (he averaged just 6 minutes per game) while shooting just 41.7% from the floor.
He averaged 19 points and 7.6 rebounds per game while shooting 52.1% from the field in 20 G League games.
