Kylian Mbappe scored a good near-post goal from the left side of the box, but got injured in the process as France started the Zinedine Zidane era with a 1-0 win over Türkiye on Friday. Eduardo Camavinga also came on as a substitute in the second half.
Mbappe, as he was gearing up for the shot that resulted in the goal, stretched his leg awkwardly and felt something immediately after. He tried to continue but couldn’t, and was subbed off for Desire Doue shortly after.
In a really tough game for both
teams, it was a goalless first half, with few clear-cut chances, and Mbappe was not as involved as he would have liked to be.
The game opened up a bit more in the first few minutes of the first half, and some good pressing from Zidane’s side allowed Mbappe to get his first goal under his new manager.
Camavinga looked tidy and calm on the ball, and hopefully, he will be able to have a bigger role in the next two games in the break.
