The Fermín López transfer rumors are heating up quickly as the midfielder’s future at Barcelona is in question after reports of serious interest from Chelsea, with Fermín set to decide his situation within the next 48 hours.
And the latest reporting on the story comes from Gerard Romero, who claims Chelsea are not the only ones keen on Fermín: Bayern Munich have also joined the race and expressed their interest, most likely as a replacement for Jamal Musiala who is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines
after his horrific injury in the Club World Cup.
Romero says several Premier League clubs are also interested, but Chelsea appear to be in the pole position given their financial power and their promise of a “protagonist role” for Fermín according to earlier reports.
Barça won’t force a transfer, Romero says, and they will leave the decision entirely up to the player. Fermín had been adamant about staying at the club, but after being an unused substitute against Levante at the weekend, the 22-year-old seems to be having a more open-minded look at his options, and there are plenty of clubs ready to pounce if he decides to leave.
