The Cleveland Browns offseason was once again about making changes and turning over the roster. Gone are Myles Garrett, Joel Bitonio, Wyatt Teller, David Njoku, Martin Emerson, Devin Bush, Jerome Ford, and others. Through free agent additions, the NFL draft, and a trade, the Browns have remade their offensive line while also adding young talent to the wide receiver room.
While the quarterback position continues to be a question, swapping in HC Todd Monken promises to at least give Cleveland’s offense
a new look compared to the one former HC Kevin Stefanski ran.
Despite all the roster improvements, the Browns have still been ranked near the bottom of a lot of the lists being created before training camp starts. That includes the recent national NFL power rankings put together by the team at Bleacher Report. Cleveland sits at 30th out of 32 teams:
Meanwhile, the club needs its new starting offensive line to jell over the summer.
Defensively, the Browns will likely regress after trading star edge rusher Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams for edge rusher Jared Verse and three early-round draft picks over the next three years.
Not everything is negative in the write-up about the Browns:
New head coach Todd Monken and his staff have a lot to figure out before Week 1 of the upcoming season. Our analysts don’t expect much from the Browns, but this team could be fun to watch with young new faces in key positions.
Young players with upside are a key component for keeping fans engaged and having something to look forward to in the future.
Only the Miami Dolphins and Arizona Cardinals are ranked lower than Cleveland. The rest of the AFC North also falls outside of the Top 10 on the list, with the Pittsburgh Steelers (19), the Cincinnati Bengals (15), and the Baltimore Ravens (13) not even cracking the top dozen spots in the power rankings.
What do you think of where the Browns are power-ranked? Do you think they should be getting more respect, or should they have to prove it on the field first?
