The Eagles running back depth got even thinner on Sunday morning, when Will Shipley left the game shortly after scoring the team’s first touchdown in London. The RB was evaluated on the sideline before leaving for the locker room late in the second quarter, and was listed as questionable to return due to a foot injury.
Shipley came into the Week 5 game as the starter due to Saquon Barkley inactive due to a hamstring injury, and Tank Bigsby
on IR after undergoing core muscle surgery. The team signed running backs Dameon Pierce and Carson Steele from the practice squad to the roster earlier this week.
In addition to the touchdown, Shipley had five carries for six yards before leaving the game. His contributions aren’t just on offense, and the team will have to fill his spot on special teams, too.
Thankfully, the Eagles passing game looked improved — at least a little — in the first half, and hopefully they are able to cobble together a competent performance in the second half and squeak out a win.
